The Son Shines Brightest After Darkness

Have you ever noticed the contrast between the dark places and the light places in a painting? The light shines brighter and is more noticeable, often because of the darkness. Dramatic choices exist between darkness and light. Ephesians 5:8-9 (NIV) says “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth).”   Sunrise God’s word, the Bible, provides believers guidance on how to live as light in the world. This is where it becomes challenging to be obedient. The first part of this same chapter provides specific instruction on how to live. “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just a Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person – such a person is an idolater – has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. (Eph 5:1-5 NIV)   Here’s the beautiful part – The Son of God died on the cross that we might be redeemed, forgiven and made pure. So pray, ask for forgiveness on all occasions and give thanks for His mercy, so you can live in the light of the Son.
